Do you live on a steady diet of books? And do the ones you enjoy devouring the most happen to involve time and time travel?

Come join us! Time Travel Nexus is officially on the lookout for bookworms and time travel fans to join our new book review column.

How it works

You’ll be reading and writing about some of the latest releases in the time travel genre, and sharing your honest and carefully considered thoughts about them.

We’ll contact you with a book that we’d like you to review and provide you with a short synopsis/blurb. If you accept our invitation to review it, we’ll send you a copy (probably an ebook copy) and a review form. The review form will help you create a balanced critique that takes into account plot, character, setting, style etc.

Alternatively, if you have read a book that we haven’t suggested, and you think it would be a good fit for Time Travel Nexus, then let us know and we’ll consider it. If we agree, we’ll send you a review form to help you write it.

Remember, time travel is a story device that spans multiple genres: science fiction, fantasy, romance, thriller, historical, adventure etc. Our aim is to feature books in a variety of genres on Time Travel Nexus. Literally the only stipulation is that the story must either feature actual time travel or relate prominently to time and the nature/passage/general weirdness of it.

Requirements

There are only two requirements for the role:

  1. You must be able to write coherently and in a way that’s easy to read.
  2. You must love time travel!

If this sounds up your alley, here’s how you apply.

What to include on your application

  • Send an email to contribute@timetravelnexus.com.
  • Tell us a bit about yourself and your writing/reviewing experience (if any).
  • Please attach an example of your writing. It doesn’t have to be a review, but if you’ve written reviews in the past, please do send one of those.

A bunch of FAQs

1. How long do I commit for?

As long as you like. Your commitment will be on a book-by-book basis.

2. Do I need to have written reviews before to apply?

No. No review experience required. You just have to be interested in writing some.

3. What if I can’t or don’t want to read a particular book?

Just let us know and we’ll find someone else. And you can also review a book that we haven’t suggested. Just tell us what it is and we can decide together whether it’ll be a good fit for the site.

4. Do I get paid?

At present Time Travel Nexus is a “for the love” market. Our contributors are here because they love writing about time travel and/or are keen to have a platform to promote themselves and their writing.

5. Is there a word count?

Nope. Write as much as you need to to give a full and frank analysis of the book.

6. How long do I get to read the book and write the review?

We’ll agree that with you on a book-by-book basis.

7. How honest can I be?

As honest as you like (without being abusive, of course). Authors have thick skins. Just remember to be balanced and fair.
