One of my favorite current time travel TV shows is Timeless. There are two time machines in the series: the Mothership and the Lifeboat. At the beginning of the series, a man named Flynn steals the Mothership in order to stop a group of people called “Rittenhouse” from taking control of the country, possibly even the world. Soon after, the protagonists use the Lifeboat in order to recover the Mothership, bring Flynn in, and stop him from altering the timeline.

As the Lifeboat was revealed, it occurred to me that I’ve seen it before, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Recently, I was looking at the Warner Bros. Tour website and when I saw a particular photo, my jaw dropped. The photo was of props from The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Its the same image as the one at the top of the page.
The Lifeboat looks remarkably similar to Bane’s nuclear bomb! I knew I recognized it before.

I could not find any link between the two as far as prop designers. The two productions were created by different companies. There is one connection, though, when it comes to what they are in-universe.
In the third episode of Timeless, “Atomic City,” we learn that the Mothership is powered by the core of an atom bomb. Since the Lifeboat is the prototype of the Mothership, it would be fair to say it is also powered by the core of an atom bomb, which may give a reason as to why it looks so much like Bane’s nuclear bomb. On the other hand, the man who created the Lifeboat, Mason, may simply be a fan of The Dark Knight Rises.
And in case you don’t remember seeing it in the movie, here’s a clip where it’s featured front and center:
