These are all of the titles that have come to our attention, although there are probably many more. It is hard for Natalie to simply ignore Luca, since Lord Rossi has determined he would be her protector until the champion of the tournament claims her. In effort to forget about him, Natalie fills her time drawing up plans for more modern conveniences, hoping to help all the people she is beginning to care for. A few little up-to-date things here and there can’t hurt… right?

Since man could not sustain long space flights, the new world council decided that space travel would be by robotic machines only carrying the total healthy DNA and embryos of all life forms on planet earth.
They programmed humanoids to a level that they had reached. Civilisation could start at any objective they desired and initiate intelligence at any point. The remaining population, lived in new Beijing located in what was once called, Tibet and constructed beneath the ground in the lesser Himalayas where on borrowed time expected to be extinct within the next century.
The only living homo-sapiens to survive were two children: Zheng a boy of ten years, and a girl Biyu of fourteen. Both were smuggled aboard the mothership Apolo-Alpha, cryonic preserved for 100 years, destined for the Stellar solar system Planet-E, some 40 light years from planet earth. For the past twenty years, after resuscitation, they have survived; lived amongst a populated planet of humans that were cognitively mapped and cultivated in a laboratory to habitat a world in an era commencing 323 BC.
Our hero and heroine have now been transported to a new planet in the same solar system taking with them their family. Nobody is aware that life is controlled by the humanoids and robots and that space travel exists, except for Zheng and Biyu. In this case, he wants me to finish a certain dimensional prototype for him in twenty-four hours. I can do it, but it might mean Learning Squirrel High gets blown up in the process. Oh yes, and there’s also my new hot classmate who may or may not be an alien… and he says he’ll do anything to help me.
This job won’t be easy, but I’ve gotten out of worse scrapes. Maybe.

Our lives have been profoundly changed, and I have no doubt that we will never know the true scientific cause for that change. Nor will we ever know what those who we left behind in the 21st century believe happened to our seaport town and its residents. However, I can just imagine CNN and the other networks, with their parade of analysts and experts, trying to explain the events of that unprecedented morning. O
ne of the news network talking heads probably got it right, but he or she would most likely never be able to prove it, for who would believe that an entire town and its population could simply vanish from the coast of California and the face of the earth? It would take a while for a story like that to be bumped from the headlines; however, some other news event would eventually come along and divert world attention. Researchers, scientists, and psychics would probably remain focused on the remnants of our town and would spend years trying to determine what really happened.
On this side of time, we know that the loved ones we left behind would never forget, for each of us left someone. Some of us left our children; others left husbands or wives; we all left friends. I suppose those left behind would always be haunted by our disappearance and long for the truth. We may never know the cause; however, we have learned to live with the results.
It is my belief now, all these years after what has become known as The Flash or The Moment, that I am uniquely qualified to tell our story. It’s often said that, “The more things change, the more they stay the same,” as I would come to find out on this foggy and cold November day. So here’s to setting the record straight. This is our story.

My name is Pamela Harold; I am a twenty-three-year-old college student at Harvard University. My professor, Dr. Wilson, has invented the time machine that can transport a person back to the year of their choosing. He thinks we should be looking to the past to correct our mistake for the future. Instead, we are trying to figure out a way to travel to the stars in hopes of finding a new planet. Dr. Wilson believes we would make the same mistakes in a new world as we have on earth in an endless circle of destruction.
I, for one, happen to agree with him. I have always felt like I was living in the wrong century and longed to be back in the eighteenth or even the nineteenth century. However, before now I never thought that was possible, and still, wonder if it is.
I attend the 9 AM meeting and must admit I am getting very excited. There is so many here I can’t believe this many would want to volunteer for such an adventure when there are no guarantees you will ever see this time-period again. I guess when you are like me and have no family left, it doesn’t seem to matter where in the mix of time you are. I think that is why the next thing on his list to qualify is no family ties. No one for you to miss or them miss you. It did surprise me there was so many on campus that were alone in the world, just like I was.
I understand there will be two of us going together, so I wonder whom Dr. Wilson is sending with me. I pray he is a Lakota too.

I see a beautiful girl, that is apparently Native American walking towards me. She says, “Hi, my name it Pamela Harold, but everyone calls me Pam.”
“Hi back. My name is Frank Olson; it is good to meet you. Are you as excited as I am to be chosen to do this?” I reply.
“Yeah, my heart is pounding out of my chest. I want to go to the eighteenth century and see how my ancestors live and learn from them. They knew how to care for ‘Mother Earth.’”
“Me too. I am part of the Lakota tribe, how about you?”
“That’s funny, so am I. Maybe Dr. Wilson will team us up together. Did you want to go that far back also?” Pam asks.
“I asked for around 1750 or 60. Of course, I would accept whatever Dr. Wilson thought best.”
“I am sure we will be sent back together then. I asked for about the same, 1740 – 1760. I wanted to study the ways of my people and how they treated the lands before the white man invaded it.”
Pam pointed toward the door, and when I looked, I saw Dr. Wilson entering. I guess this is it. We will find out now where we are going and with whom.
