Another San Diego Comic Con has come and gone and fans everywhere are now eagerly catching up on the countless announcements that happened during the four-day convention.
Trailers, panels, and news…oh my!
Here’s some of the highlights of SDCC 2017. Massive spoiler warning from here on out.
All four Arrowverse shows had a trailer appear at SDCC. One thing to keep in mind with these is that CW shows just started filming within the last two weeks.
Legends of Tomorrow
That being said, the most informative of the group was Legends of Tomorrow.

One thing I don’t like about this trailer is the massive lack of Rip Hunter. He’s there slightly towards the end, but he was not there much in the trailer. He also wasn’t with the cast in the one interview I caught over the weekend.
Arthur Darvill has been confirmed to return as Rip Hunter. He has helped form a Time Bureau and they call the actions of the Legends into question (pot calling the kettle black there Rip).
Captain Cold is going to be the one who ends up helping to reassemble the time in the season premier.
After all, there’s a big problem to fix. By crossing their own timeline (and breaking the first law of time) they’ve fractured the timeline and created what they call anachronisms, a scattering of people, animals and objects all over the timeline. They need to restore everything to it’s proper place before the timeline breaks completely.
Supergirl

After the events of the season finale caused her boyfriend Mon-El to be forced to leave Earth, it seems as if Kara Danvers is saying farewell to her human alter-ego and embracing Supergirl. I’ll admit, I’m officially curious.
This usually light superhero is going to take a slightly darker turn, at least that’s the impression I get from things.
The theme is “what does it mean to be human.”
The scale has been tipping constantly as Kara balancing being Kara Danvers and Supergirl. Right now, the scale is leaning towards Supergirl.
Cat Grant will be in the season premier.
One of the most interesting things is that Mon-El has been confirmed to have some sort of role moving forward. What that is, remains to be seen.
The Flash

Let me start by noting, I’m still mad at them for not killing Iris off. You can see limited footage here, in fact this and Legends are tied for being the most informative about what’s happening when the shows return.
Last we left Team Flash, Barry had surrendered himself to the Speed Force (I could faintly hear it calling for Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son” but I guess CW can only afford for one show to play that in their season finale). Iris lived, the latest incarnation of Wells is dead, and now Iris and Barry’s wedding is in limbo because Barry is gone.
We saw traces of the comeback in the trailer. There’s also going to be more Gypsy, her father makes an appearance as well.
A couple of villains were announced.
The other big announcement I’m not a fan of is Julian Albert is not going to be a season four regular.
WHY?!
I’m about as much a fan of that decision as I am of the decision to keep Iris alive.
Arrow
Let’s wrap up the Arrowverse with it’s namesake.

The cast and crew of The Arrow are keeping their mouths shut regarding who did and did not survive the explosion in the series finale.
The them of Season 6 is found-family and not only does that apply to Oliver Queen’s son it applies to the fact that there is going to be a cabal of villains terrorizing Team Arrow this upcoming season.
Another thing to note, as mentioned in an earlier post, John Barrowman will not be returning.
Who survives?
Place your bets now.
12 Monkeys
Switching gears a bit, let’s talk about 12 Monkeys.
The cast of 12 Monkeys made one final appearance at San Diego Comic Con this year. Yes, after the upcoming, season 4, the show will come to an end.
We have been promised that all of our questions will be answered and they aren’t leaving loose ends. That is a perk of knowing you’re ending your show versus getting a surprise cancellation.
Timeless

Timeless was the only one not to drop a trailer for their upcoming season out of the time travel shows. That’s because they don’t have a lot set in stone for their second season.
We do know it’s only going to be 10 episodes, best guess is it’s going to be Spring/Summer 2018 before it premiers, and that Lucy’s mom is going to be one of the big bads.
Not much else.
But then again, this show had a lot to talk about with the virtually unprecedented renewal just 3 days after it was cancelled.
Personally, I’m still in shock, but I’m happy for them.
Future Man
Newcomer Future Man made it’s first appearance at SDCC. Warning for this trailer, it’s got a lot of strong language so watch with caution.

Yes, that was Josh Hutcherson. He’s starting in this show, due to debut on Hulu in November.
In fact, I didn’t hear about this one until last week when I was checking out what all was going to be at SDCC.
Janitor by day, gamer by night and apparently the one who can help to save the world. Hutcherson’s character is approached by two people from the future who need his help.
From what I’ve read, this promises to be an interesting experience. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.
And last, but certainly not least…
Doctor Who
Let’s get a few things straight.
I get that we need to recast Polly for her to look like the version that travelled with the First Doctor. But if they don’t let Anneke Wills make a cameo, both Tina and I will be very cross.
This is also going to be the last time Steven Moffat writes an episode of Doctor Who. And for those of you who have followed my writing on this site, you know that I’m already planning his farewell party (and have been for quite some time).
Let’s address Mark Gatiss. No one knows for sure what his role is. A popular fan theory is that he’s Lethbridge-Stewart’s father.
This episode also marks Peter Capaldi’s swan song, as he will regenerate into Jodi Whittaker.
That’s it for the SDCC wrap up. Once we get a bit closer to premier, I’ll do my annual Time Travel Television Preview.
