Jessica dropped a bombshell of a surprise on Wyatt at the end of episode 8. She had been texting her brother, a brother whom Wyatt remembers from his timeline as having died at a very young age. Jessica said he had been really sick but his parents found him treatment and he got better. This raised questions for Wyatt, who asked how her family could have afforded the treatments, but the subject changes when Jessica tells him that she’s pregnant.
Within Rittenhouse, Carol continues to worry about and look out for Lucy, even though Lucy is fighting against Rittenhouse. Worried that Emma and Nicholas are getting too close for comfort, Carol reminds Nicolas that Rittenhouse is primarily composed of pureblood families and is all about legacy.

Agent Christopher and Connor Mason haven’t trusted Jessica ever since they found pictures of her on the Rittenhouse computer they have salvaged from Wyatt’s earlier raid. They reveal to Wyatt and the team that they found photos of Jessica that date all the way back to her childhood. They suspect Rittenhouse brought her back into the timeline as part of their plans. Wyatt is in shock and disbelief. He becomes very defensive when they suggest Jessica leave the bunker. At that moment the alarm goes off and they see that the Mothership has gone to South Carolina, 1863.
Switching to that time, we see that Emma has given a sleeper agent a book about Civil War military history which provides him with the knowledge of where the Union troops will be and at what times, so that the South can take down the Union.
Soon after arriving in the past, Lucy, Flynn, Rufus, and Wyatt meet Harriet Tubman, and they theorize that Rittenhouse is trying to sabotage the Combahee River Raid, in which Harriet Tubman is supposed to lead an attack on a plantation to free slaves. They try telling Harriet that she will die if she goes ahead with the raid that night, but she tells them she can handle this on her own.
Lucy comes up with a plan for her and Flynn to leave to get Colonel Montgomery and his men to help Harriet. Harriet tells Rufus that she has received visions from God and the path these have shown her, which resonates with Rufus and helps him understand why Jiya has such strong feelings about a higher power. They come up with a plan to go undercover at the plantation. Rufus poses as an in house slave, while Wyatt infiltrates the house as a farmer from Georgia, named Rhett Butler. Before they go undercover, Rufus asks Wyatt about Jessica. He too is concerned with her possible connection to Rittenhouse. He asks Wyatt that if he suspects anything from Jessica to speak up and let him know.
Meanwhile back in present day, Jiya insists that she meet Stanley, an early Mason Industries lifeboat pilot who started having visions similar to hers. Begrudgingly, Connor takes her to a room where we see Stanley in his bed in a trance-like state. Stanley suddenly comes out of the trance, and he has much to tell Jiya about her visions. He tells her that he can travel without the machine and proceeds to demonstrate. He goes back into a trance, at which point Connor leads Jiya out of the room because Stanley could stay like that for a long time.

Back in South Carolina, 1863, Lucy and Flynn try to convince Colonel Montgomery to send his men to help Harriet Tubman. Montgomery is highly skeptical that he should believe someone with an accent he can’t place and a woman regarding military matters. Lucy gets fed up and tells Colonel Montgomery that Harriet needs his help and the union needs her, so he needs to listen to her because she knows what she’s talking about.
While Rufus and Wyatt are undercover in the plantation, Harriet starts trying to free the slaves. They discover that one of the Confederate officers seems to know where all the Union troops will be ahead of time. All hell breaks loose outside, just as Wyatt and Rufus’ covers get blown. Wyatt and Rufus find the books on Civil War history, destroying it as they confront the sleeper agent who has been using it. The sleeper agent escapes, but outside comes face to face with Harriet and she shoots and kills him. Standing behind her as she does so are Lucy and Flynn, having arrived just in time with Colonel Montgomery and his men. Rufus and Harriet have a bonding moment before the time team leave and he realizes what kind of legacy she is building.
When they get back to present day they learn that they have changed history just a little bit. Instead of the Combahee River Raid, it was now called the Willow Glen Plantation Raid. Flynn congratulates Wyatt on being a father, which Wyatt is surprised to find that Flynn knows. On his way to see Jessica, Wyatt meets Lucy in the hall, who explains that she told Flynn on the long trip to meet Montgomery. The initially tense exchange softens when Lucy steals a hug, and it seems Wyatt is OK with things.
Wyatt gets back to his room with Jessica and he tries talking her into leaving the bunker because of doctor’s appointments and such. He tells her that if she goes, he will go too. They talk about the baby and what the future has in store for them. Rufus and Jiya also reconnect, with him telling her about Harriet’s visions and how she saw the lifeboat in them. Rufus is ready to pay more attention to Jiya’s visions and try to understand them rather than dismissing them.
The next morning Wyatt wakes up alone in his bed. As he starts looking around for her, he is stunned to see the Lifeboat starting up, with Jessica inside holding Jiya hostage with Wyatt’s gun. He tries climbing up the ladder to stop them, but the Lifeboat vanishes, sending Wyatt flying across the room. There’s no longer any doubt that Rittenhouse brought Jessica back into the timeline for a purpose, and now she is probably delivering the lifeboat into their hands.

I had a feeling Jessica was up to no good. I, however, never saw this coming!
